Maggie White People
Some of our customers have been coming into our shop for years and years. Meet some of our regular customers and hear what they love about shopping with us ...
Madeleine Emma Hedley Ford
A delightful, vivacious ray of sunshine. Madeleine has lived quite a life, filled with dancing, designing, dress making and fun. She fills the shop with her infectious enthusiasm for life, wearing one of her self-made unique map fabric dresses... a real traffic stopper, worn with grace only a professional dancer can achieve. Famed for her 'Miss Ford's School' of dancing, Madeleine has brought joy to children's lives for decades with her passion for the beauty of movement.
Rarefied sewing skills have been a backdrop to this journey; 'Not many people know how to make a classical tutu', she reflects, a creation that takes over 200 hours to make. Within a joyous conversation mostly laughing and smiling at her wonderful tales, she tells me 'I love making my own stuff, and I love coming to your shop to see the beautiful clothes Maggie chooses. I love to buy them and then make up my own versions in unique fabrics'.
Madeleine is a quite enchanting and remarkable woman, who we feel very lucky to have as a loyal customer. She personifies many of the ambitions we have of bringing fun, colour and a touch of something special to those we dress.
We look forward to many more fun-filled visits.....
Rainhild Wells
who is a fanatical knitter, met Maggie when she was wearing one of Maggie's coats she bought a few years back. Rainhild kindly sent us a few photos of herself in some of the various knits of which she has. Rainhild herself has a very good sense of colour and loves to compose her own clothes and accoutrements. We are glad the Maggie White knits are still much loved!
